Academics - Blue & Gold Schedules

Math

Block 2 - Gold Day

Students are learning about Math concepts and are becoming more aware of the importance of Math skills in everyday life.  The students are using an online curriculum - Big Ideas Math.  We supplement this with information found on Khanacademy, BrainPop and a class subscription to Scholastic MATH magazine.

Students are eating up their new found knowledge involving Pi on 3/14/14.

Students have been expanding their vocabulary through the weekly units interacting with Flocabulary lessons.  Vocab words are put into short video and rap songs for introduction and review.  The class also utilizes BrainPop for short lessons on grammar, writing and reading/study skills.  A class subscription to Scholastic ACTION is also part of Language Arts as part of reading comprehension.

Students enjoyed reading Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen. No, a movie of this book is not available yet, but it would be great.
